In these matches, there is one official referee whose job is to makes judgments concerning the reputable conduct of the game according to laws of cricket. मैदान से बहार और टी वी पर प्रसारित होने वाले मैचों में अक्सर एक तीसरा अंपायर (third umpire) होता है जो विडियो साक्ष्य की सहायता से विशेष स्थितियों में फ़ैसला ले सकता है.टेस्ट मैचों और दो आईसीसी के पूर्ण सदस्यों के बीच खेले जाने वाले सीमित ओवरों के अंतरराष्ट्रीय खेल में तीसरा अंपायर जरुरी होता है.इन मैचों में एक मैच रेफरी (match referee) भी होता है जिसका काम है यह सुनिश्चित करना होता है की खेल क्रिकेट के नियमों (Laws of cricket) के तहत खेल की भावना से खेला जाये.
